About Peytan
Peytan Porter is rewriting the rules with a wink and a wild streak. A bold and refreshing voice in country’s next chapter, she blends sharp storytelling with a dreamy edge—equal parts grit, grace, and bold self-definition.
Raised in Dawsonville, Georgia, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Peytan is a self-described creative middle child with a curious mind and a deep love for lyrics. Born to a schoolteacher and a UPS driver, she started singing at sleepovers by age 10 and was more interested in the deep cuts of her CDs than the radio hits. While other kids were backseat bobbing, she was studying liner notes and falling in love with the people behind the pen.
She began performing at churches, local fairs, and small-town festivals across northeast Georgia before moving to Nashville to attend Lipscomb University and dive headfirst into the city’s songwriting community. In 2020, she signed her first publishing deal with Jody Williams Songs and Warner Chappell Music, officially earning the title she values most: songwriter. A year later, a forgotten demo posted to TikTok exploded overnight, introducing her music to millions and lighting the fuse on her artist career.
Peytan’s debut project In My Head (2023) leaned pop-country, but after releasing it, she found herself pulled more toward the raw, rootsy spirit of the music she grew up with. That realization sparked a creative shift—and a new chapter entirely. She reemerged later that year with a new look, a new sound, and her Grown EP, featuring fan-favorite tracks like “God’s Hotel,” “Speaking of Georgia,” and “Lemonade.”
She’s since shared the stage with artists like Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw, Hailey Whitters, Jon Pardi, and Brett Eldredge, and made multiple appearances at the Grand Ole Opry. Her music lives at the intersection of alt-country, indie pop, and singer-songwriter soul—equal parts raw and refined, bold and intimate. As she sings in her latest single “Queen of Appalachia,” she’s “barefoot and busty”—a little wild, deeply rooted, and unapologetically herself. It’s this fearless blend of tradition and individuality that makes her sound unmistakably her own.
Now entering a new era—with a new producer, a clearer creative compass, and her boots planted firmly in her own lane—Peytan is fully leaning into the artist she was always meant to be. Between In My Head and Grown, she began to focus the crystal sonically, sharpening the sound that lives between alt-country storytelling and indie-pop shimmer. You’ll find her on the road, playing shows, traveling with friends in an RV (destination optional), sipping craft beer at local breweries, or chasing new experiences to turn into songs.
Catch her if you can…
